Cairo: Minister of Transport Kamel el Wazir inspected the second phase of Cairo's Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project to review station readiness ahead of the start of operations.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the second phase extends 40 kilometers from el Mosheer Tantawy Station to Sun Capital Station and includes 16 stations, forming part of the project's planned 48-station network. During his tour, Wazir reviewed passenger facilities, including station access, pedestrian bridges, tunnels, ticketing systems, electronic gates, and waiting areas.

Wazir also checked the readiness of operating teams and ordered continuous maintenance, cleaning, and landscaping along the Ring Road. He highlighted that the new section will serve several densely populated areas, including New Cairo, Maadi, Mokattam, Omraniya, Talbiya, Mariouteya, and Mansouriya.

The minister emphasized that the electric BRT system will help reduce traffic congestion and emissions while providing faster public transport. The network will also connect with Metro Lines 1 and 3, the Light Rail Transit (LRT), and the East Nile Monorail, creating a more integrated transport system across Greater Cairo.
