Transport Minister Inspects High-Speed Rail Line 2 and Development Projects in Upper Egypt

Luxor: Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel el Wazir conducted an inspection of the stations and route implementation of the second line of Egypt's high-speed electric rail network. This inspection, which took place on Monday, December 8, 2025, also covered several development projects in Upper Egypt as part of the Ministry of Transport's ongoing initiatives.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Wazir was joined by Luxor Governor Abdel Mottaleb Emara, Qena Governor Khaled Mahmoud, Sohag Governor Abdel Fattah Serag, Minya Governor Emad Kdawany, Deputy Minister for Land Transport Maged Abdel Hamid, and other officials during the inspection tour. The focus was on the second line of the high-speed electric railway network, which stretches from October to Abu Simbel, covering a distance of 1,100 kilometers. Specifically, the minister inspected the 200-kilometer section from Luxor to Sohag, passing through several stations including Luxor, Qus, New Qena, Deshna, Nag Hammadi, Farshout, Abydos, Sohag, Juhayna, Tahta, El-Ghanaim, Assiut, Minya, and Beni Suef/Fayoum.

The stations are strategically designed to cater to local residents and enhance connectivity between development axes in the Nile Valley and desert highways. They also serve airports, new urban communities, industrial zones, and agricultural areas. Notably, several stations are positioned near major roads, airports, and industrial facilities, including the aluminium complex in Nag Hammadi. During the tour, Minister Wazir assessed the project's completion timeline, passenger circulation plans from main entrances to ticket halls and platforms, as well as the commercial development investment plans for each station.
