Madrid: Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, met with Gloria Guevara, CEO of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the Ministry and the Council in the coming period. This meeting took place during his current visit to Madrid, Spain, to participate in the FITUR 2026 International Tourism Fair.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting was attended by CEO of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, Dr. Ahmed Youssef, Mr. Ahmed Nabil, Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Aviation and Follow-up, and Mr. Mohamed Mohsen, Head of the Iberia and Americas Unit at the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion.
The meeting addressed the exchange of views on the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities' strategy and plans aimed at making Egypt the world's number one tourist destination in terms of the diversity and quality of products and different tourism styles. Additionally, the meeting reviewed the positive tourism performance indicators achieved by the sector during the past year, as Egypt received about 19 million tourists, marking an increase of 21% compared to 2024.
