Solidarity Minister Launches Roundtable to Enhance Disability Inclusion

Cairo: Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsy inaugurated a roundtable on disability inclusion, hosted by the 'Qadron Bekhtelaf' (Differently Abled) Fund, under the theme 'Enhancing Institutional Capacity to Serve People with Disabilities.' This marks the first official activity of the Fund since Zeina Tawakkol took over as executive director.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Morsy, who also serves as Deputy Chair of the Fund's board, stated that the initiative reflects President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's ongoing commitment to disability rights and integration. She emphasized the Fund's role in supporting inclusive education, healthcare, employment, and financial access for people with disabilities, aiming to ensure their full participation in society.

The roundtable brought together representatives from civil society, government institutions, and experts to identify service gaps and propose actionable policy recommendations. Morsy stressed the importance of collaboration with other entities, particularly the 'Ataa' charitable investment fund, to address existing service and resource deficiencies.

Tawakkol expressed the Fund's mission to build a more inclusive and just society, viewing diversity as a strength. She described the roundtable as a step toward establishing effective partnerships among the government, private sector, and non-profits to coordinate services and share best practices. Discussions focused on challenges facing people with disabilities, institutional weaknesses, and ways to build an integrated support system.

The event is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the disability support network in line with Egypt's Vision 2030, transitioning from fragmented initiatives to a unified institutional approach that ensures dignity and equal opportunity for all.
