Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Senior Advisor to US President Donald Trump, Jared Kushner, at Cairo's Ittihadiya Palace. The meeting, which was attended by Head of Egypt's General Intelligence Service Major General Hassan Rashad and US Ambassador in Cairo Herro Mustafa, focused on advancing the Gaza ceasefire negotiations.

According to State Information Service Egypt, President Sisi expressed his support for the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and commended President Trump's efforts towards its realization. He emphasized the urgency of signing the agreement promptly. The US envoys conveyed Trump's appreciation for Egypt's significant role in reaching the agreement, highlighting the strategic and deep relations between Egypt and the United States.

The meeting underscored President Sisi's commitment to collaborating closely with the US to implement the agreement in line with President Trump's peace plan. The President reaffirmed Egypt's dedication to its longstanding partnership with the US in promoting the Middle East peace process, a collaboration that began in the 1970s.

President Sisi stressed the immediate need to cease hostilities in Gaza, urging action even before the formal signing of the agreement. He acknowledged the supportive roles of the US, Qatar, and Turkey during the Sharm El Sheikh negotiations, emphasizing that achieving peace in Gaza is a shared goal for regional and international stakeholders.

The US envoys reiterated their appreciation for Egypt's pivotal role in concluding the conflict and restoring regional stability. President Sisi expressed his eagerness to host President Trump in Egypt for the signing of the agreement, marking a significant milestone in the pursuit of peace.
