Tunis:Ambassador Alaa Youssef, Chairman of the State Information Service (SIS), announced that the organization has intensified its activities across Egyptian governorates to enhance societal awareness of population issues. This initiative operates under the slogan "Together for a Stable Society and a Prosperous Future."
According to State Information Service Egypt, the campaign is coordinated with various government entities, including the Ministry of Health and the National Population Council. In September, SIS conducted 54 events attended by 4,935 citizens, comprised of 3,626 females and 1,309 males. These efforts aim to spread population awareness and support state initiatives to manage population growth and improve the living standards of Egyptian families.
The campaign specifically targets youth and newlyweds, emphasizing the importance of family and health awareness from an early stage. It aims to enhance knowledge about family planning and reproductive health, addressing population challenges effectively. Events included seminars, public meetings, panel discussions, and workshops, conducted in cooperation with governmental and non-governmental institutions to reach diverse social groups.
Ambassador Youssef highlighted the campaign's reliance on geographic reach and direct citizen communication. A significant portion of events, 23%, were held within SIS-affiliated media complexes, while the remaining 77% took place at various government and civil society institutions. This approach ensures the campaign's presence in local communities and reaches targeted audiences effectively.
The geographic distribution of activities saw the North and Central Upper Egypt region leading with 13 events, followed by South Upper Egypt, the Canal and Sinai region, and Alexandria and West Delta region with 9 events each. The Greater Cairo region hosted 8 activities, and the Central and East Delta region conducted 6 activities, demonstrating the widespread nature of the awareness efforts.
Ambassador Youssef noted that the campaign also provided opportunities for participants to express their opinions, resulting in 20 recommendations and proposals for future activities. The initiative underscores the need for integrating awareness and media efforts with relevant state institutions, particularly the Ministry of Health and Population, to confront population challenges. SIS is committed to using direct communication tools and digital media to deliver accurate information, working with scholars from Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, the Ministry of Endowments, and the Egyptian Church to promote responsible family awareness and counter misinformation.
