SIS Chairman: ‘Decent Life’ Initiative is Egypt’s Largest Modern Development Project

Cairo: Chairman of the State Information Service Alaa Youssef affirmed that the 'Decent Life' presidential initiative represents the largest integrated development project in modern Egyptian history during his participation in Hawaa Magazine's cultural salon.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Youssef praised Dar Al-Hilal institution for its historical role since 1892 in shaping cultural awareness and supporting national efforts for human development. He explained that the initiative launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in January 2019 aims to build a modern state based on justice while prioritizing citizens in the neediest villages.

The initiative has benefited 46 million citizens through EGP 700 billion in investments covering 4,584 villages across 20 governorates with over 27,000 first-phase projects. "Decent Life provides a model for economic empowerment and social protection. Around EGP 69 billion supported SMEs benefiting 3.2 million citizens, half of whom are women," Youssef said.

The initiative provided a safety net for 39 million people through food support, medical services for 2.8 million, and educational improvements for 137,000 students. Youssef attributed its success to a partnership involving 20 ministries, 23 civil society organizations, the private sector and thousands of volunteers.

The meeting concluded with a discussion led by Hawaa Editor-in-Chief Samar El-Desouky on the initiative's direct impact on living standards and social stability.
