At the beginning of the session, the presidential decree inviting the Senate to convene for the opening of the first regular session of the second legislative term was read out, along with the decision of the National Election Authority announcing the election results. According to State Information Service Egypt, the Senate consists of 300 members, 200 of whom are elected and 100 appointed by the president.
