Cairo: Scholars, muftis, and researchers from 80 countries will participate in the 11th International Conference of the General Secretariat for Fatwa Authorities Worldwide on September 2-3, 2026, under the theme: 'Family Challenges amid Major Transformations.'

According to State Information Service Egypt, the conference will take place under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and will focus on the significant transformations reshaping family life, values, relationships, and identity. The event will address key themes such as modern individualism and its impact on family cohesion and shared responsibility, as well as digital isolation's effects on human relationships and social ties.

The conference will also cover issues related to belonging and coexistence, emphasizing the strengthening of citizenship, dialogue, mutual respect, and social cohesion. Additionally, it will examine the social, cultural, economic, and technological transformations affecting family dynamics, including their impact on marital relationships, family stability, and child-rearing practices.

A significant objective of the conference is to highlight the role of fatwa institutions alongside religious, cultural, and educational organizations in developing informed and practical responses to these emerging challenges. By adopting an interdisciplinary approach that combines Islamic, human, and social sciences, the conference aims to establish an integrated Iftaa framework. This framework will focus on protecting the family, anticipating its future, and safeguarding its identity while engaging constructively with the realities of a rapidly changing world.

With broad international participation, the conference will serve as a global platform for dialogue on the future of the family and the evolving role of Iftaa institutions. It will address challenges affecting social stability and human well-being, fostering a collaborative effort to find solutions and promote understanding across diverse contexts.
