Salah and Fathi Boost Egypt’s Preparations for World Cup Clash Against Australia

Cairo: Egypt continued preparations for its FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 32 showdown against Australia on Friday, with Hamdi Fathi returning to full training and captain Mohamed Salah taking part in part of Wednesday's session. The squad, led by head coach Hossam Hassan and his assistant Ibrahim Hassan, trained at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, as preparations entered their final phase ahead of the knockout encounter.According to State Information Service Egypt, Hamdi Fathi rejoined full team training, while Salah participated in part of the session. Defender Mohamed Abdelmonem and left-back Ahmed Fattouh continued their rehabilitation programs. The training session was attended by Egyptian Football Association (EFA) President Hany Abo Rida, who oversees the national team, EFA Vice President and World Cup delegation chief Khaled El-Darandaly, as well as board members Mohamed El-Sherbiny, Mostafa Abou Zahra, Mohamed Abou Hussein, and Tarek Abou El-Enein.Egypt secured a place in the Round of 32 after finishing second in Group G with five points, narrowly missing out on the top spot to Belgium on goal difference. Australia also advanced as runners-up in Group D with five points.
