Cairo: Under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, launched the Pyramids Half Marathon 2025, marking it as one of the most prominent international sporting events hosted in Egypt. The event saw the presence of Mr. Philippe Muller, Head of the Sports Sector at UNESCO, alongside a distinguished group of success partners and representatives from sponsoring and supporting entities. With over 10,000 runners from more than 120 countries participating, the marathon highlighted Egypt's growing status on the global sports map.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the marathon represents a model for integration between sports, tourism, and culture. The strong international participation reflects growing confidence in the Egyptian government and its ability to organize major sporting events safely and professionally. The organization of the Pyramids Half Marathon aligns with the Ministry of Youth and Sports' vision to support major sporting events that promote sports tourism while showcasing Egypt's unique civilizational and historical assets.
The event features three races covering distances of 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km, welcoming participants of all age groups and fitness levels, from amateurs to professionals, in an energetic sporting atmosphere. This blend of competition and participation highlights the marathon's role in enhancing Egypt's reputation as an attractive destination for international marathons and races. Additionally, the event supports the national economy by promoting tourism and introducing participants and visitors to the image of modern Egypt, which balances authenticity with progress.
