Public Business Minister Announces Completion of 737 Projects in First Phase of Hayah Karima Initiative

Cairo: Engineer Mohamed Shimi, the Minister of Public Business Sector, announced that the total number of projects being implemented by companies affiliated with the ministry under the first phase of the Hayah Karima (Decent Life) initiative has reached 737 projects. He highlighted that most of these projects have been completed, with the remaining ones nearing completion.

According to State Information Service Egypt, this announcement was made during an expanded meeting to monitor the progress of projects carried out by contracting companies under the Holding Company for Construction and Development. The initiative, launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, aims to develop villages in the Egyptian countryside, representing a significant model of comprehensive economic and urban development. It has a direct impact on improving the quality of life for millions of citizens.

Minister Shimi emphasized the importance of speeding up the completion of the remaining projects while maintaining high-quality standards. He noted that the Ministry of Public Business Sector prioritizes enhancing the developmental role of its affiliated companies and ensuring their active participation in major national projects. This initiative is expected to boost infrastructure efficiency and service levels in various governorates, aligning with the state's vision to improve the Egyptian countryside and achieve sustainable development.

The executive report presented during the meeting indicated that the projects include the implementation of drinking water and sanitation networks, treatment plants, pumping stations, gravity sewer networks, and various service buildings across 13 governorates. The estimated total cost of these projects is approximately EGP 22.5 billion.

Key attendees at the meeting included Major General Engineer Mohamed Mostafa, Chairman of the Holding Company for Construction and Development, Ms. Naglaa Dagger, Advisor to the Minister, and the executive managing directors of the affiliated contracting companies. They reviewed the progress and discussed strategies to expedite work while adhering to technical specifications and quality standards.

The projects are being executed by major national contracting companies affiliated with the Holding Company for Construction and Development, including Al-Nasr General Contracting (Hassan Allam), Egyptian Contracting (Mokhtar Ibrahim), Egyptian Contribution Contracting (Al-Abd), Al-Nasr for Buildings and Constructions (EGYCO), and Misr for Reinforced Concrete Works.
