Algiers: Minister of Public Business Sector Mohamed Shimi emphasized the importance of enhancing collaboration between his ministry's associated pharmaceutical holding companies and their Algerian counterparts. This initiative aims to broaden the production base, facilitate the exchange of expertise and technology, and bolster drug security across Africa. The minister's remarks were made during the opening ceremony of the Algerian Healthcare Exhibition "Clinvest Expo," which coincides with the first African Ministerial Conference on Local Production of Medicines and Health Technologies, hosted in Algiers from November 27 to 29.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Shimi was joined by Algerian Minister of the Pharmaceutical Industry Wassim Kouidri and Health Minister Mohamed Seddik Ait Messaoudene at the ceremony. A significant number of ministers and representatives from various African nations attending the conference were also present.

The Clinvest Expo, taking place at Palais des Expositions in Algiers, showcases around 100 exhibitors from the pharmaceutical and medical supply sectors. Participants include banks, project support entities, and organizations specializing in research, development, and digitization within the pharmaceutical industry. The event is organized by the Algerian Ministry of Health, Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry, and the Algerian Economic Renewal Council.

In addition to the exhibition, the expo features panel discussions and roundtable events focusing on modernizing the regulatory framework for the pharmaceutical industry, as well as promoting drug exchange and registration within Africa. Experts will also explore the potential for establishing a unified pharmaceutical market, assess pharmaceutical investment opportunities, and discuss advancements in technology.

During his visit to the exhibition, Shimi commended the high quality of the pharmaceutical products and health supplies on display, noting the significant progress of Algeria's pharmaceutical industry.
