Abu Dhabi:Prosecutor General Mohamed Shawky met with his counterparts from the UAE and Switzerland in Abu Dhabi to discuss key issues such as judicial cooperation, artificial intelligence, cross-border crime, and asset recovery.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions took place during the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice. Shawky and UAE Attorney General Hamad Saif Al Shamsi explored cooperation between their countries' prosecution authorities and methods to address emerging forms of crime.
In addition to crime-fighting strategies, they examined the integration of artificial intelligence and modern technologies in criminal justice while ensuring legal safeguards and human oversight.
In another meeting, Shawky and Swiss Attorney General Stefan Bl¤ttler focused on international judicial cooperation, tackling cross-border crime, and recovering assets derived from criminal activities.
The discussions between the Egyptian and Swiss representatives resulted in an agreement to initiate steps toward a memorandum of intent on judicial cooperation, driven by a Swiss initiative. This memorandum aims to facilitate direct coordination and exchanges between the two prosecution authorities.
The meetings concluded with an agreement among Shawky and his UAE and Swiss counterparts to sustain collaboration and exchanges in crime prevention efforts.
