Cairo: The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has announced a series of measures designed to secure energy supplies for the domestic market, focusing on natural gas and petroleum products. These efforts are being made in collaboration with relevant ministries and state institutions to ensure the energy demand is met, especially in light of evolving geopolitical and regional circumstances. The ministry underscored that energy security is a crucial component of national security.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the ministry is monitoring recent developments, including military strikes and the subsequent suspension of gas supplies from the Eastern Mediterranean. It assured citizens of the diversification of gas supply sources and the availability of alternative capacities. Throughout 2025, the ministry has secured additional liquefied natural gas quantities to meet the needs of various sectors. This was achieved by diversifying supply sources, contracting LNG cargoes from multiple origins, and establishing infrastructure to receive LNG imports, which includes deploying regasification vessels.

The ministry highlighted that the infrastructure and additional gas supplies are part of proactive scenarios developed with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy. This coordination ensures readiness and operational flexibility to secure the gas supplies required by the electricity sector.

For petroleum products, the ministry has increased available quantities and built strategic reserves of gasoline, diesel, LPG, and other products. It has achieved this by boosting domestic production rates, performing periodic maintenance on refineries, optimizing storage capacities, and maintaining secure stock levels of imported products. These measures aim to stabilize the local market and ensure continuous supply availability.
