New Alamein:President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has reiterated Egypt's steadfast support for Somalia's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. He emphasized Egypt's ongoing commitment to bolstering Somalia's state institutions, consolidating security and stability, and aiding the Somali people's aspirations.
According to State Information Service Egypt, President Sisi made these remarks during a meeting with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud at the "Alamein-Africa Business Forum" in New Alamein city. He expressed appreciation for the Somali President's participation in the forum and highlighted the strengthened relations between Egypt and Somalia, especially since they formed a comprehensive strategic partnership in January 2025.
Sisi assured continued support for Somalia's sovereignty and stability, reflecting Egypt's dedication to assisting Somalia in enhancing its capabilities and fulfilling its aspirations. The Somali President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, acknowledged Egypt's significant political, security, and development support, expressing pride in the historic ties between the two nations. He commended Egypt's efforts, led by Sisi, to maintain Somalia's unity and territorial integrity and to assist in national security and stability efforts.
The discussions also covered Somalia's internal developments, with Sisi underscoring the importance of fostering national consensus among Somalia's political forces to support state unity and stability. Both presidents exchanged views on regional issues, agreeing on the necessity of continued cooperation with regional states to maintain security in the Horn of Africa, the Gulf of Aden, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the Red Sea, aiming to enhance regional security and protect regional interests.
