President El-Sisi Urges Trump to End Iran War, Warns of Severe Global Energy Fallout

Cairo: President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi called on US President Donald Trump to help end the ongoing war in Iran, saying 'no one but you can stop the war in our region and the Gulf,' as he warned of severe global energy and economic repercussions.According to State Information Service Egypt, President El-Sisi, speaking at the Egypt Energy Conference, emphasized the importance of restoring stability in the Gulf due to the conflict's impact on global energy markets. He described the situation as 'the largest energy crisis in history,' noting its more significant disruption to international oil companies compared to the Russia-Ukraine conflict or the COVID-19 pandemic.El-Sisi highlighted the strength of the United States and urged Trump, whom he referred to as 'a man who values peace,' to intervene and halt the war. He also cautioned that the rising fertilizer prices, driven by the conflict, would severely affect global economies, with developing countries being among the most impacted. He reiterated that wars ultimately lead to loss and destruction, with no victors emerging from the devastation.On domestic energy policy, President El-Sisi announced Egypt's collaboration with Cyprus to expedite the flow of Cypriot gas to global markets through Egyptian liquefaction facilities. Additionally, he reaffirmed Cairo's commitment to settling outstanding dues to foreign energy partners, which currently total $1.3 billion, by the upcoming June.
