Cairo: Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Advisor to the President for Health and Prevention Affairs Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Martyrs and Victims Honoring Fund Major General El-Sayed El-Ghaly. The fund honors martyrs, victims, missing persons, and those injured in military and security operations and terror attacks, along with their families. The meeting also included Major General Dr. Eid El-Tawil, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Locomed Egypt, and Major General Dr. Mohamed Metwally, Head of the Technical Committee for Managing the Prosthetics Project and General Manager of the Company.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the President followed up on the progress of the prosthetic devices project and the state's initiatives to establish a comprehensive industrial complex for prosthetics and assistive devices in Egypt. This undertaking is being executed in line with the latest international technological and medical standards, with collaboration from global experts.
The meeting reaffirmed the state's dedication to providing efficient prosthetic devices, supporting individuals with mobility impairments to enhance their independence and societal integration. This aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt's Vision 2030.
The President also reviewed the localization of the prosthetic and artificial limb industry, focusing on producing high-quality devices with skilled Egyptian labor. The first phase involves establishing seven centers for assembly and alignment, in coordination with several ministries and in partnership with the German company "OttoBock."
President El-Sisi emphasized the importance of strict governance in contracting with manufacturers to ensure adherence to technical specifications and international quality standards. He instructed for contracts to be approved under clear regulations and for company performance to be periodically evaluated to meet beneficiary needs.
Additionally, the President directed efforts to fast-track the acquisition of manufacturing capabilities for prosthetics based on internationally recognized standards. This includes setting up an integrated service industrial complex to provide comprehensive services to individuals with mobility impairments. The potential to develop the complex into a regional center of excellence was also discussed, leveraging Egypt's current capabilities in the field.
