President El-Sisi Engages in Dialogue with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy


Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss the latest regional developments. The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, stated that the conversation addressed Egypt’s ongoing efforts to halt the escalation of conflict in the region. President El-Sisi emphasized the need to prevent further instability and highlighted the importance of de-escalating current tensions, given their impacts on regional security, stability, and economic conditions both regionally and internationally. He also called for concerted efforts to end the ongoing war.



According to State Information Service Egypt, President El-Sisi condemned Iranian attacks on the sovereignty of Arab states, stressing the importance of ceasing such actions and respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of these nations. He reaffirmed Egypt’s support for Arab states in this regard.



The Ukrainian president expressed appreciation for Egypt’s initiatives to promote regional stability and agreed with President El-Sisi on the importance of mitigating the consequences of the current escalation. He also shared his efforts to prevent further tensions in the Middle East.



The dialogue also covered the Russian-Ukrainian war, with President Zelenskyy updating President El-Sisi on the latest developments. He expressed gratitude for Egypt’s stance on the crisis and its commitment to resolving the conflict. President El-Sisi reiterated the need for peaceful solutions, supporting efforts toward a political settlement.



The conversation concluded with both leaders discussing the enhancement of bilateral relations, agreeing to develop cooperation in areas like trade, investment, and food security, and exploring new opportunities that would benefit both nations.
