Sokhna: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli expressed his happiness over the commencement of commercial operations at the Red Sea Container Terminal (RSCT), affirming that this marks a significant milestone in the history of Egyptian ports. He asserted that the state is keen on continuously developing its ports, aiming to transform Egypt into a regional hub for transportation, logistics, and transit trade, in line with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

According to State Information Service Egypt, this commercial operation is part of the ongoing development and completion of Sokhna Port, a key component of the integrated Sokhna-Alexandria container logistics corridor, connecting the Red Sea and the Mediterranean. Madbouli's remarks were made during the official launch of commercial operations at the Red Sea Container Terminal 1 at Sokhna Port.

Madbouli was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel el Wazir and Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) Walid Gamal el Din. Vessel CMA CGM IRON, which is part of the global shipping line CMA, arrived during the launch. The ship, arriving from the Port of Beirut, carries 13,000 containers, marking a significant milestone in the port's development.

Madbouli asserted the central role of port development in enhancing Egypt's leadership as a global hub for trade and logistics. This supports the optimal use of Egypt's geographic location and complements the state's development plan aimed at achieving comprehensive national progress, he said.

Meanwhile, Wazir highlighted that the terminal is fully automated and operates to the highest global standards, thereby strengthening Sokhna Port's ability to accommodate the largest international shipping lines. This is in line with Egypt's strategy to become a key hub in global supply chains, he said. Wazir also noted that the Ministry of Transport is executing a comprehensive plan to establish strategic partnerships with major international container terminal operators and shipping lines. Wazir added that the terminal's operation will also support Egypt's exports and open up new markets by launching direct shipping services.
