PM Reviews Outcomes of Comprehensive Medical Convoy to Assiut

Assiut: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly reviewed a report on the outcomes of a comprehensive medical convoy organized by the Supreme Medical Committee and Reliefs at the Cabinet, in cooperation with the Egyptian Cure Bank Foundation, in El-Ghanayem and El-Qusiya districts of Assiut Governorate, from May 4 to 7, 2026.According to State Information Service Egypt, the prime minister praised the role of the Supreme Medical Committee in organizing such convoys in cooperation with civil society organizations, aligning with the state's efforts to provide free medical services to citizens in villages and underserved areas. This initiative ensures access to quality healthcare close to the residents' locations.In the report, Naglaa Abdel Moneim, Head of the Supreme Medical Committee and Reliefs, stated that the convoy included various medical specialties, such as orthopedics, internal medicine, cardiology, pediatrics, chest diseases, dermatology, ENT, and ophthalmology.Naglaa Abdel Moneim further detailed that t he convoy offered free medical examinations and treatment, conducted laboratory tests, distributed eyeglasses, and referred cases needing surgical intervention or specialized care to university hospitals and Ministry of Health facilities.The initiative saw strong participation from citizens throughout its operation, with widespread appreciation for the State's efforts to provide free healthcare services in underserved areas.Abdel Moneim noted that the convoy examined 1,549 ophthalmology cases, provided 690 eyeglasses, and performed 162 free eye surgeries. Additionally, it examined 2,355 cases across other specialties and referred 117 cases to Ministry of Health and university hospitals for further treatment and intervention.
