Nairobi: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting at the government headquarters in the New Capital with Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi to address the domestic market's needs for natural gas and petroleum products. The meeting, which took place on Sunday, April 26, 2026, focused on ensuring a stable supply of fuel, particularly for the electricity sector, in anticipation of increased demand during the summer months.According to State Information Service Egypt, Cabinet Spokesman Mohamed El Hommosany highlighted that the meeting reviewed the ministry's scenarios and plans to enhance local production and utilize regasification ships to bolster industrial and export operations. The petroleum minister detailed the ongoing efforts to boost production from existing fields and the implementation of intensive exploration and drilling programs.During the discussion, Prime Minister Madbouly emphasized the urgency of accelerating the development of the West Denis field, located off the coast of Port Said, to maximize gas output and contribute additional quantities to the local production. Furthermore, Madbouly examined the ministry's initiatives to attract investment in the mining sector, underlining the strategic importance of this area for the country's economic growth.
