PM Inaugurates First BSH Manufacturing Facility in Egypt and Africa

Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly has inaugurated the first manufacturing facility in Egypt and Africa for BSH, a subsidiary of the German household appliance giant Bosch. The project involves a total investment exceeding £55 million, fully funded by BSH Global, as per a Cabinet statement.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the facility was designed and built to the latest international standards and technologies. It will serve as a regional manufacturing hub for BSH's operations across Africa and the Middle East. This strategic move aims to leverage Egypt's potential as a gateway to regional markets, marking a significant milestone in Bosch's expansion plans in the region.

Luis Alvarez, CEO and Managing Director of BSH Egypt and Morocco, emphasized that the decision to establish the first African plant in Egypt reflects a long-term strategic vision. The factory will initially produce over 350,000 gas cookers annually, developed with German engineering and manufactured by Egyptian talent. Approximately 50 percent of the output will be exported to markets including Africa, the Middle East, Australia, Canada, and Latin America.

The company has also announced plans to introduce 90 cm-wide cookers, tailored to consumer needs, and expects the plant to generate approximately 1,000 direct and indirect job opportunities. BSH officials confirmed that plans for future expansion are in place, with more details to be presented to the prime minister soon.
