Alexandria: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on Monday, July 14th, 2025, inaugurated the Control and Monitoring Center at the Alexandria Drinking Water Company, an affiliate of the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater, during a visit to Alexandria Governorate.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouli stated that the center is the first of its kind among affiliated companies, aligning with directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. The project is part of a broader initiative to establish operations rooms within companies to manage crises efficiently and link them to the National Emergency System and the Unified State Command Center. This initiative supports the state's sustainable development plans to provide uninterrupted services to citizens, particularly during the rainy season.
During the inauguration, the prime minister and his delegation received a detailed presentation from Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Sheirf El-Sherbiny about the functionalities of the new center. The minister highlighted that the center marks a significant advancement in managing water resources and responding to crises effectively. El-Sherbiny emphasized the center's use of modern technology to monitor networks and control breakdowns and interruptions instantly.
Alexandria Governor Ahmed Khaled also commented on the center's role as an executive arm of the main control and monitoring center of Alexandria Governorate. The center aims to coordinate with control centers across various service sectors, optimizing efforts in crisis management and quickly resolving citizens' issues. The operations room is equipped to receive reports from executive agencies, emergency services, and other important entities, offering round-the-clock communication services with six dedicated lines for monitoring and reporting.
Chairman and Managing Director of Alexandria Drinking Water Company Ahmed Gaber provided an overview of critical areas and ongoing projects, emphasizing the company's alignment with Egypt's Vision 2030. Gaber discussed the company's efforts in infrastructure development, increasing production capacity, improving water pressure, and enhancing water systems in the governorate. He highlighted the company's participation in the presidential 'Decent Life' initiative to develop rural villages and its leadership in adopting water safety and security plans.
Separately, Mahmoud Nafea, Chairman and Managing Director of Alexandria Sewerage Company, detailed the company's improvements in performance. The number of lifting stations increased significantly, alongside a rise in treatment plants, with current coverage exceeding 92%. Nafea also discussed projects under the urgent plan for the governorate's sewerage system and the company's achievements in renewable energy.
The prime minister also inspected the Mobile Crisis Management Unit, designed to manage reports from various operations rooms and monitor water quality and security conditions. This unit is known for its on-the-ground presence, enabling internal follow-up, field monitoring, and early warning capabilities.
