Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli emphasized the strength of strategic relations between Egypt and Germany at political, economic, trade, and investment levels. Madbouli made the remarks during a meeting with German Ambassador to Egypt Jrgen Schulz at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to discuss various topics of shared interest.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting was attended by Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates for European Affairs Ambassador Wael Hamed. The premier expressed his eagerness to continue working with the German ambassador to advance bilateral relations with all German states across multiple levels. This effort aligns with Egypt's commitment to developing economic relations with Germany, increasing trade exchange, boosting Egyptian exports to the German and European markets, and attracting more German investments.
Madbouli also emphasized Egypt's anticipation of Germany's support for issues related to Egyptian interests within international bodies and institutions, including the European Union. He highlighted the importance of Germany's backing for the swift approval and disbursement of the second tranche-worth a total of 4 billion euros-of the European financial support package for Egypt. Tripartite consultations are expected to occur in May between the European Council, European Parliament, and European Commission regarding the financial package's disbursement to Egypt.
In response, the German ambassador praised the relations between Egypt and Germany as both strategic and distinguished. Schulz pointed out the strong historical connections in politics, economy, culture, and science between the two countries. He mentioned that the newly forming German government would be eager to enhance cooperation with the Egyptian government across various fields. Additionally, he commended Egypt's significant role in mediating efforts to end the war in Gaza and facilitate a ceasefire. Schulz reiterated Germany's support for the Gaza reconstruction plan endorsed by Arab and Islamic countries.
