Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli was briefed about the operation system of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project. The premier received insights from Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel el Wazir during a tour to inspect the pilot operation of the BRT project's first phase.
According to State Information Service Egypt, El Wazir detailed the connection of BRT stations with bus stops on the Ring Road, including the setup of waiting areas for commuters and the process of acquiring BRT tickets. The minister highlighted that the project will begin with the operation of 100 air-conditioned electric buses in its first and second phases. These 66-seat buses are designed to serve 3,200 commuters per hour in both directions.
El Wazir also emphasized that the buses are locally manufactured, aligning with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's directives to localize industries. This initiative aims to transform Egypt into a regional industrial hub, contributing significantly to the nation's industrial development.
