PM Appoints Mohamed El Gawsaky as GAFI CEO

Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly issued a decision appointing Mohamed El Gawsaky as Chief Executive Officer of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) for a one-year term, as part of the state's efforts to enhance the investment climate and stimulate economic growth. Gawsaky brings more than two decades of professional experience in both the public and private sectors, with a strong background in planning, investment attraction, and the development of business-friendly policies.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Gawsaky currently serves as Assistant Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade for Planning, Trade and Digital Transformation, where he leads efforts to expand Egypt's foreign trade capabilities and strengthen international partnerships. Gawsaky is responsible for formulating mechanisms to develop and enhance the efficiency of Egypt's investment and foreign trade systems, contributing to boosting the competitiveness of the national economy at the international level and improving the domestic business environment to attract direct investment.

Previously, Gawsaky served as Undersecretary at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, where he headed the Central Department for International Relations, acting as the main liaison between the Egyptian government and international organizations and multinational companies. His role focused on strengthening partnerships, advancing cooperation, and attracting investments in the ICT sector.

Before joining the government, Gawsaky spent more than 15 years in the private sector, holding several senior executive positions in local and international companies across the Middle East, North Africa, and emerging markets. His responsibilities included business development, operations management, strategic planning, and the adoption of emerging technologies. Gawsaky holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from Ain Shams University and an MBA with honors from the American University in Cairo. He has received several awards in recognition of his academic excellence.
