PM Announces Egypt’s Intention to Host 5th ‘Aswan Forum’ in October

Yokohama: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli announced Egypt's intention to host the fifth edition of the "Aswan Forum" in October. The event will focus on major African issues, particularly the interconnection between peace, security, and development. Madbouli expressed hope for continued and intensified cooperation with Japan in this context while delivering Egypt's address at the Peace and Stability Session of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) in Yokohama, Japan.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the conference is attended by numerous kings, presidents, and leaders of states. Madbouli is representing President Abdel Fattah El Sisi at the gathering. He began his speech by conveying President El-Sisi's greetings to the Japanese government and people, emphasizing Egypt's appreciation for Japan's partnership with Africa and its commitment to supporting the continent in peace, security, and development.

Madbouli also acknowledged Angola's leadership in presiding over the African Union. He highlighted the increasing challenges faced by the continent and recognized Africa's efforts in establishing peace in regions such as Sudan, eastern DRC, the Sahel, and Somalia.

The prime minister concluded by addressing the Palestinian cause, a longstanding priority for Egypt and the African Union. He urged swift and decisive action against Israeli aggression and advocated for the recognition of the State of Palestine to protect the Palestinian people and their rights.
