Planning Minister and World Bank Discuss Data-Driven Economic Policies and Egypt Vision 2040

Cairo: Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom met on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, with a senior World Bank delegation to discuss strengthening cooperation in economic analysis, data management, and evidence-based policymaking.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting reviewed efforts to maximize the use of national databases and statistical surveys to support economic reforms, poverty analysis, employment policies, and inflation measurement. Rostom highlighted the importance of reliable data in guiding government decisions, particularly during crises.

The minister stated that the government is finalizing the update of Egypt Vision 2030 and beginning preparations for Egypt Vision 2040. This preparation includes a medium-term economic program that will set development priorities over the next three to five years.

Discussions also covered plans to establish an integrated national database, enhance poverty measurement methodologies, and improve economic forecasting through more advanced analytical tools. World Bank officials reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Egypt's efforts to strengthen data availability and build a sustainable framework for evidence-based development policymaking.
