Petroleum Ministry: Arcius Energy to Drill 2 New Gas Wells in Mediterranean Sea

Cairo: Arcius Energy, a joint venture between the UAE's ADNOC and Britain's BP, plans to begin drilling two new exploratory gas wells in the Mediterranean Sea, Atoll West and Nofret, as part of a new drilling campaign aimed at boosting exploration activities in Egypt.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the ministry announced that the drilling vessel Valaris DS-12 has departed Spain's Las Palmas port en route to Egypt to commence operations. This move follows an inspection visit by the company to ensure the vessel's readiness, during which it praised operational efficiency, safety systems, and the competence of onboard personnel.

Arcius Energy reaffirmed its commitment to expanding investments in Egypt, positioning the country at the core of its strategy as a key hub for its Eastern Mediterranean operations. The company is also implementing a five-year plan aimed at doubling production and supporting efforts to develop Egypt's gas resources.
