Cairo: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi reviewed the latest preparations for the Mediterranean Offshore Conference and Exhibition (MOC 2026), scheduled to take place in Alexandria on October 20-22. Badawi emphasized the conference's significance as a platform for highlighting achievements in Egypt's oil and gas sector and promoting opportunities within the Egyptian market to attract further investments, introduce modern technologies, and strengthen partnerships.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the minister highlighted the importance of showcasing reforms and developments in the petroleum sector. He stressed the need to benefit from successful international expertise and technologies to localize them in Egypt, aiming to increase production and maximize added value.
MOC 2026 will be held under the theme 'Egypt as an Anchoring Force for Energy Security in the Mediterranean.' The conference aims to connect international research and expertise with the needs of Egypt's petroleum sector and its development plans for the coming years. The first day will feature strategic sessions with executives from global companies and international delegations addressing current challenges and requirements in the energy and gas industry, particularly in the Mediterranean.
As many as 338 research papers were submitted from 27 countries, with around 84 papers selected for presentation across approximately 20 technical sessions. Organizers aim to complete all presentations by September while finalizing logistical and organizational arrangements. The conference is expected to attract more than 10,000 participants and visitors, over 25 exhibiting companies, around 1,200 delegates, and government representatives from 15 countries. The event will also feature significant participation from the Egypt branch of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
Launched in 2000, MOC is held alternately in Alexandria and Ravenna, Italy, and has become one of the leading specialized events on the international energy conference calendar.
