Cairo: Speaker of the House of Representatives Hanafy Gebali affirmed the special nature of bilateral relations between Egypt and China, rooted in the shared civilizational foundations that unite the two nations.
According to State Information Service Egypt, this affirmation came during Gebali's meeting with Li Shulei, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Secretary of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, and Head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Egyptian Parliament.
At the beginning of the meeting, Gebali emphasized the keen interest of both countries' leaderships in strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Egypt and China. He highlighted the importance of ongoing cooperation and coordination in ways that serve the interests of both nations and their peoples.
He also affirmed the parliament's commitment to enhancing parliamentary cooperation, particularly in legislative and parliamentary affairs, continuing consultations on regional and international issues of mutual concern, and ensuring bilateral coordination in international and regional parliamentary forums.
Gebali praised the joint projects between Egypt and China, most notably the participation of Chinese companies in the construction of the Central Business District in the New Administrative Capital, as well as Chinese investments in the Egypt-China Economic Zone within the Suez Canal Economic Zone. He called for further Chinese partnerships and investments in the promising Egyptian market, especially in light of the developmental boom currently taking place in Egypt.
For his part, Li expressed China's appreciation and pride in its historic relations and comprehensive strategic partnership with Egypt, highlighting Egypt's role in the Middle East and Africa. He also praised the ties between the leaderships of the two countries. Li pointed out that the Egyptian economy is making strides toward sustainable growth, thanks to the development efforts undertaken by the Egyptian state. He expressed China's openness to expanding investments across all economic sectors in Egypt.
