New Train Line to Serve Residents of North Sinai

Cairo: The Egyptian National Railways (ENR) has announced the launch of an enhanced passenger service on the Qantara East-Bir Al-Abd railway line, providing four daily trips with upgraded Tahya Misr train coaches across eight stations to serve the residents of North Sinai.According to State Information Service Egypt, the new service is part of the Egyptian state's commitment to achieving comprehensive development in Sinai. This initiative aligns with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's directives and the Transport Ministry's efforts to implement the 500-kilometer Sinai Development Railway Project.The project involves the rehabilitation, upgrading, and construction of the Ferdan-East Port Said-Bir Al-Abd-Arish-Taba railway line. ENR has emphasized its ongoing efforts to enhance transportation services for residents of North Sinai's cities and villages at affordable fares. The Qantara East-Bir Al-Abd line is considered a vital transport corridor that connects North Sinai with the Canal cities and, subsequently , the rest of Egypt. This connection supports passenger mobility, freight transport, and ongoing national development projects in the region.ENR has reiterated its dedication to executing modernization and development plans under the Sinai Development Railway Project, aiming to improve transport services and bolster the state's sustainable development efforts in Sinai.
