NCCM Strengthens National Initiatives to Combat Child Labour

Cairo: On the occasion of World Day Against Child Labour, Dr. Sahar El-Sonbaty, Head of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood (NCCM), highlighted Egypt's commitment to protecting children from economic exploitation. The nation is actively implementing national legislation, strategies, and programs aimed at enhancing social protection, supporting families, and ensuring children's access to education, care, and essential services. According to State Information Service Egypt, Dr. Sahar El-Sonbaty emphasized that combating child labour is a collective responsibility. It requires the concerted efforts of all partners, including the government, civil society, the private sector, the media, and religious and educational institutions. These efforts aim to create a supportive environment for children and their families and to raise awareness about the dangers of child labour and its long-term consequences. Dr. Sahar Al-Sunbati further explained that the council is actively involved in implementing the N ational Action Plan to Combat Child Labor and Support Families (2018-2025). She mentioned that the council is currently working on the second generation of the National Action Plan (2026-2030). This plan will strengthen national efforts to eliminate child labor and provide the necessary protection and support for children and their families.
