Cairo: Egyptian Navy Commander Vice Admiral Mahmoud Adel Mahmoud Fawzy has emphasized the importance of the Egyptian combat doctrine and the role of well-trained personnel as the core of the Egyptian army's strength.According to State Information Service Egypt, Fawzy highlighted ongoing efforts to develop the military personnel's skills and readiness to use modern technology in all fields. Speaking at a press conference on the occasion of Navy Day, commemorating the October 21, 1967 sinking of the Israeli destroyer Eilat, Fawzy described the event as a military miracle that reshaped global naval strategy. It was the first use of surface-to-surface missiles from small boats, showcasing Egypt's naval capability post the 1967 defeat.He underscored Egypt's strategic maritime position with coasts on both the Mediterranean and Red seas, while it also has the Suez Canal, which all necessitate a powerful, modern navy capable of operating 24/7, year-round. Fawzy also noted how warfare has changed due to technologi cal advances, making cost-effective solutions like drones preferable to expensive missile systems in some scenarios.He emphasized the importance of military exercises and joint drills with other nations-such as 'Bright Star' and 'Friendship Sea'-to enhance readiness and foster military cooperation.
