MSMEF Advocates for Swift Activation of Unified Investor Guide

Cairo:The Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Investors Union has called for the immediate activation of a Unified Investor Guide, along with comprehensive structural and administrative reforms to Egypt's investment system. This initiative aims to boost transparency, governance, government openness, and digital transformation.

According to State Information Service Egypt, these reforms are expected to enhance Egypt's position in international indices, which play a crucial role in influencing foreign investors' market and investment destination choices.

The union highlighted that international assessments of the business climate emphasize the necessity of ongoing structural and administrative reforms. These reforms are crucial to ensure greater access to information, streamline government procedures, and improve the business environment, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises.

In light of the current global economic challenges, the union pointed out that markets offering stable and transparent investment environments have the opportunity to attract capital seeking alternative destinations. Egypt is seen as poised to attract such investments, provided it modernizes government procedures and builds investor confidence.

The union also urged the government to implement an urgent package of executive measures to improve the business climate. Key among these is the preparation and activation of a comprehensive, unified investor guide, which would outline the administrative and legal procedures for establishing and operating businesses.

The union further called for the development of a one-stop-shop system by establishing electronic integration among government entities involved in investment. This system would allow investors to access necessary services through unified channels, minimizing the need to visit multiple authorities.

Additionally, the union stressed the need for comprehensive digital transformation of government procedures related to investment, aiming to limit human intervention and ensure transparency and equal opportunities.

Finally, the union emphasized the importance of empowering the SME sector, linking its success to the efficiency of the state's administrative apparatus. It expressed readiness to collaborate with government authorities in preparing the Unified Investor Guide, ensuring that proposed reforms translate into tangible improvements in the investment climate.
