Cairo: In the context of enhancing cooperation and partnership between the Egyptian government and the United Nations system, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, the Minister of Youth and Sports, welcomed Ms. Chitose Noguchi, the new UNDP Resident Representative in Egypt, during a welcoming meeting on the occasion of her official start in Cairo.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi expressed his appreciation for the important role played by the UNDP as a key partner in supporting sustainable development efforts in Egypt, particularly in the areas of youth empowerment, innovation, addressing climate change, and enhancing employment opportunities.
The minister confirmed that the Ministry of Youth and Sports looks forward to continuing fruitful cooperation with the UNDP and building on the achievements made over the past years, in line with Egypt's Vision 2030 and sustainable development goals. The partnership between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the UNDP has seen significant development over the years, reflected in the implementation of numerous joint programmes and initiatives, including support for community entrepreneurship, capacity-building programmes for youth in leadership and innovation, and projects related to digital transformation and climate.
This partnership has contributed to providing new opportunities for Egyptian youth to lead positive change and enhance their active participation in national development plans. For her part, Ms. Chitose Noguchi expressed her happiness at starting her role in Egypt, affirming the UNDP's commitment to supporting the priorities of the Egyptian state and strengthening partnerships with various ministries and national institutions to achieve tangible results that contribute to enhancing resilience and comprehensive sustainable development.
