Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Discusses Regional Tensions with Pakistani Counterpart in Istanbul

Istanbul: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, held a meeting on Sunday, June 22, 2025, with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, on the sidelines of the Council of Foreign Ministers meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul. Minister Abdelatty praised the significant progress in bilateral relations, as evidenced by the increasing frequency of high-level meetings in recent periods. He valued the ongoing cooperation and coordination between Egypt and Pakistan within regional and international organizations, as well as the convergence of their positions on major international issues.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the two ministers exchanged views and assessments regarding the concerning developments in the region, particularly the military escalation between Israel and Iran. Both sides expressed profound concern over these developments, stressing that the continuation of this situation would exacerbate tension and instability in the region.

In this context, Minister Abdelatty stressed the need to halt military escalation and to work on containing the situation by activating political and diplomatic channels, which would help prevent the region from sliding into a cycle of violence and tension. The two ministers concluded their discussions by stressing the importance of continued coordination and consultation in the coming period to ensure effective handling of current challenges and enhance opportunities for de-escalation.
