Cairo: Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar attended the signing ceremony of a strategic cooperation agreement between Minapharm Pharmaceuticals, a leading pharmaceutical company in Egypt and the Middle East, and Germany's pharmaceutical and biotechnology giant, Bayer.According to State Information Service Egypt, the deal was signed on the fringe of the 3rd edition of the Global Congress on Population, Health and Human Development (PHDC'25), which Egypt is hosting from November 12 to 15. The agreement aims to localize the pharmaceutical industry related to women and reproductive health, as stated by the health ministry on Friday, November 14, 2025.Abdel Ghaffar noted the agreement as a crucial step towards enhancing pharmaceutical security, providing advanced medicines, and transferring pharmaceutical expertise, while highlighting Egypt's status as a regional manufacturing and export hub. He conveyed his confidence in the capabilities of both companies to advance the Egyptian pharmaceuti cal manufacturing infrastructure.In addition, Wafik Bardissi, Chairman and CEO of Minapharm Pharmaceuticals, stated that this partnership is expected to promote industry localization, expand the reach of Egyptian products into regional and African markets, and support the national health policy.Claus Runge, Senior Vice President at Bayer, emphasized Egypt's strategic role in the global supply chain, noting that the partnership would aid in achieving self-sufficiency, localizing the manufacturing of essential medicines, and building a sustainable healthcare system.
