Mashat: Joint Committees Are Effective Tool of Economic Diplomacy

Tirana: Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, announced that the convening of the first session of the Egyptian-Albanian Joint Committee symbolizes the commitment of both governments to enhance bilateral relations. This initiative aims to leverage the comparative advantages of the two economies to boost trade exchange and joint investments.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Al-Mashat emphasized during the committee meetings and business forum in Tirana that joint committees are a crucial tool of economic diplomacy. They provide a platform for exploring partnership opportunities and expanding economic, technical, and sectoral cooperation. This is particularly relevant given the complementarities between the Egyptian and Albanian economies.

Al-Mashat also highlighted Egypt's strategic position as an emerging economic hub, with assets such as the Suez Canal Economic Zone, free trade agreements, and advancements in renewable energy, logistics, and industrial development. These offer Albanian partners access to African, Middle Eastern, and Arab markets.

Furthermore, she noted that the joint committee and business forum create opportunities for Egyptian companies to utilize Albania as a gateway to Southern Europe and the Western Balkans. Albanian Minister of Economy and Innovation Delina Ibrahimaj added that the committee marks a step toward transforming long-standing bilateral relations into practical cooperation. The priorities include enhancing investment and trade and expanding cooperation across various sectors, with a focus on continued coordination to achieve tangible outcomes.
