Mashat and IFC Reopen Upgraded Cairo Office to Strengthen Private Sector Ties

Mashat: Minister of Planning and Economic Development Rania Al Mashat and the Managing Director of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Makhtar Diop officially reopened the IFC's newly upgraded office in Cairo. This move signifies a strengthening of cooperation aimed at empowering the private sector in Egypt.

According to State Information Service Egypt, following the inauguration, Al Mashat and Diop engaged in a bilateral meeting to discuss future collaboration that aligns with Egypt's national priorities. These priorities include empowering the private sector, fostering sustainable growth, and enhancing the country's economic competitiveness in the face of global and regional challenges.

The discussions reviewed progress in current joint projects and considered opportunities to expand technical assistance and institutional investment programs. The meeting highlighted private sector engagement in healthcare, advisory support for the state IPO program, desalination initiatives, and public-private partnerships in airport infrastructure. Additionally, it examined collaboration under Egypt's green investment platform, Nexus of Water, Food, and Energy (NWFE).

Al Mashat emphasized that Egypt's enduring relationship with the IFC has resulted in over $10 billion in investments and financing for the Egyptian private sector. This reflects ongoing confidence in the country's economic outlook.
