Joint Statement Condemns Israel’s Planned Military Control Over Gaza

Cairo: The Ministerial Committee, established by the Joint Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit, has issued a joint statement alongside nations including Bahrain, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Nigeria, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Trkiye, and others, condemning Israel's announcement of its intention to impose full military control over the Gaza Strip.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the committee, along with the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, expressed their rejection of what they see as a dangerous escalation and a violation of international law. They argue that Israel's actions represent an attempt to entrench illegal occupation by force, undermining regional and international peace efforts.

The statement calls for an immediate cessation of Israeli aggression in Gaza and demands the entry of humanitarian aid into the area. It supports efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States to achieve a ceasefire and a prisoner exchange agreement. Furthermore, the committee emphasizes the need for reconstruction efforts in Gaza and rejects attempts to displace Palestinians from their lands.

The statement also stresses the importance of maintaining the legal status of holy sites in Jerusalem and supports the two-State solution based on pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital of an independent Palestinian State. The international community is urged to take action to halt what they describe as Israel's illegal policies and ensure accountability for violations of international law.

The committee underscores the outcomes of a recent High-Level International Conference co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, aimed at achieving a peaceful settlement and implementing the two-State solution.
