Irrigation Minister Affirms Continued Modernization of High Dam Management

Aswan: Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam said Aswan's High Dam will remain one of the main pillars of the country's water security, stressing the ministry's commitment to continuing the modernization of its management and operation systems in line with the latest technologies.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the minister stated that the upgrades would enhance the efficiency of Egypt's water management system and strengthen its ability to address various hydrological scenarios and climate change impacts.

The remarks came during a meeting held by the minister with Mohamed Rashdy, head of the High Aswan Dam and Aswan Reservoir Authority, in the presence of Mostafa Sanousi, director general of the minister's Nile and international waters office. The meeting reviewed the progress of strategic projects aimed at developing the management and operation systems of the High Dam and Aswan Reservoir.

During the meeting, officials reviewed efforts to upgrade monitoring and measurement systems at the High Dam as part of the second-generation Egyptian water management system (2.0). The upgrades include modernizing monitoring equipment, supporting real-time tracking systems and enhancing data analysis capabilities to provide more accurate information for decision-makers and improve dam operations.
