Iraqi Prime Minister Proposes Islamic Military Alliance in Response to Israeli Actions

Baghdad: Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has called for the establishment of an Islamic military alliance, citing recent Israeli actions in Gaza and Qatar as necessitating a collective response. Sudani emphasized the need for Muslim nations to unite in the face of perceived threats to regional security.

According to TRTworld.com, Sudani highlighted Tuesday's air strike on Doha, which resulted in the deaths of five Hamas members and a Qatari security officer. He described the incident as a shocking breach of international law, underscoring the broader implications of Israeli actions for regional stability.

Sudani articulated his vision for a joint security force among Muslim nations, aiming to foster a comprehensive political, security, and economic partnership. He expressed that such unity is crucial for defending against external threats and maintaining regional peace.

The attack occurred at a residential compound where Hamas leaders were reportedly discussing a US proposal to end the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Since October 2023, the conflict has resulted in the deaths of more than 64,800 Palestinians, highlighting the urgent need for a resolution.
