Benha: Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid said that the government is working to expand manufacturing for export to increase the added value of agricultural products and strengthen Egypt’s position in international markets.
According to State Information Service Egypt, these remarks came during a visit to the Verde Foods factory in Benha, part of a tour led by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli in the investment zone. The factory, built on an area of 1,800 square meters, produces and packages fruits, vegetables, legumes, and pickles using automated systems. Officials said current production stands at about 3,000 tonnes annually, with plans to raise capacity to 4,500 tonnes. About 95% of output is exported, with exports estimated at around $3 million.
Farid added that expanding this model supports export growth and improves the trade balance, adding that the government is working to improve the business environment and support investors in productive sectors to increase exports.
