Cairo: Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem emphasized the importance of establishing a precise and comprehensive economic database to bolster state decision-making and enhance the local component in Egyptian exports. This announcement was made on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, during the annual conference of the union of small and medium enterprises investors, attended by Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Hashem highlighted the necessity for stronger integration across all sectors of the productive economy, underscoring the role of SMEs as a crucial link between large and micro enterprises. He revealed that the ministry is actively collecting and analyzing accurate data on markets, production, and demand. This initiative aims to direct investments effectively, identify industrial gaps, and establish development priorities.
Hashem further elaborated that the strategy will concentrate on expanding productive activities in rural areas to generate employment, increase income, and curb migration to major cities. He emphasized that export development efforts will focus on increasing local components and deepening domestic manufacturing to boost competitiveness.
Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk, present at the conference, reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting investors through tax and financial reforms. He pointed out the strong voluntary participation in the simplified tax system and promised additional incentives to stimulate economic growth.
