Cairo: Minister of Industry Engineer Khaled Hashem on Friday held a meeting with Governor of Cairo Dr. Ibrahim Saber and Chairman of the Federation of Egyptian Industries Engineer Mohamed El-Sewedy to discuss ways to address challenges in the Shaq El-Thoban area, a significant hub for Egypt's marble and granite industry.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Khaled Hashem announced that direct meetings with investors in the Shaq El-Thoban area will take place soon. These meetings aim to encourage investors to expedite the regularization of their status and take advantage of unprecedented facilitations in industrial licensing procedures. The minister underlined the state's commitment to supporting serious investors and integrating them into the formal system.
Engineer Khaled Hashem stressed that while the government is assisting investors in regularizing their status and benefiting from available facilities, it will also enforce the law against non-compliers to ensure smooth business operations and achieve the comprehensive development plan's goals for the area. The development of Shaq El-Thoban extends beyond infrastructure improvements and includes establishing a responsible industrial culture among factory and workshop owners. This involves organized waste disposal, adherence to occupational safety and health standards, and avoiding waste dumping on roads or open areas.
Hashem explained that the Ministry will monitor operational mechanisms to positively impact production and reduce waste. It will also explore ways to expand waste recycling plants in collaboration with relevant authorities. This initiative aims to create a safe and sustainable industrial environment, enhance production efficiency, and achieve a qualitative leap in production quality.
The Minister reaffirmed the state's commitment to implementing a comprehensive plan for developing the Shaq El-Thoban area, reflecting its dedication to supporting national industry, enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian products, and providing a safe, sustainable working environment for all investors and factory owners. Khaled Hashem emphasized that monitoring development and implementing facilitations and regulatory procedures will continue to ensure the success of this initiative and achieve strategic goals for the industrial sector's sustainable development.
