Cairo: Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Randa el Menshawy reviewed progress on sewage projects under the presidential Decent Life 'Hayah Karima' initiative in Minya, Assiut, and Aswan, the Housing Ministry said on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

According to State Information Service Egypt, El Menshawy emphasized the need to accelerate work on these projects, urging for regular field inspections and prompt action to address any issues that might cause delays. She highlighted the importance of completing the projects on schedule and adhering to technical standards so they can begin serving the rural communities as planned.

In Minya, the projects include the Nazlet el Hasabeya sewage pumping station and the Tanouf wastewater treatment plant in Deir Mawas. This plant is designed to serve 14 villages and has a capacity ranging from 20,000 to 40,000 cubic meters per day.

In Assiut, El Menshawy reviewed the Dashlout wastewater treatment plant in Dairut, which is set to serve 15 villages with a capacity of 20,000 to 30,000 cubic meters per day. Other projects in the area include the expansion of the Sedfa and El-Ghanayem treatment plant, serving 17 villages, and the El-Kalabat wastewater treatment plant, designed to benefit 10 villages in El-Fath.

In Aswan, the initiative encompasses wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, pipelines, and sewage networks in Kom Ombo, Nasr El-Nuba, and Edfu. These projects are executed by the National Authority of Potable Water and Sewage (NOPWASD) as part of the Decent Life initiative aimed at enhancing basic services in rural communities.
