Health Ministers of Egypt and Singapore Discuss Humanitarian Aid Plan for Gaza

Cairo: Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar affirmed Egypt's commitment to strengthening cooperation with Singapore, providing support and exchanging expertise in the health sector, and following up on progress in previous joint projects, noting the long history of cooperation and achievements between the two countries.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdel Ghaffar made these remarks during a meeting on Monday, September 14, 2026, with Singaporean Minister of State for Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim and his accompanying delegation. The meeting aimed to discuss ways to enhance cooperation on issues of mutual interest, foremost among them developing a plan to contribute to humanitarian and relief assistance for the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

Health Ministry Spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar stated that the meeting focused on establishing a specific mechanism for delivering humanitarian aid to Palestinians, supporting Egypt's efforts since the outbreak of the Gaza conflict. Both sides concentrated on cooperation in providing medical supplies, medicines, food, and other essential relief materials to Gaza through Egypt.

Furthermore, the discussion included the possibility of establishing a humanitarian and medical aid center in Al-Arish. This center would serve as a logistical and medical hub for Gaza, in cooperation with the relevant authorities. Additional areas of cooperation were also covered, including emergency medical support and capacity building.

The spokesperson added that both sides agreed to establish a mechanism for sending Egyptian training missions to Singapore in the field of emergency medical services. This initiative is expected to benefit Egypt's ambulance system significantly.

The Singaporean minister expressed appreciation for Egypt's efforts and leading role in supporting the Palestinian people during the crisis, as well as its collaboration with friendly countries in support of the Palestinian cause. He also acknowledged Egypt's vision and ideas for developing and advancing the healthcare sector.
