Heads of NFSA and ECS Discuss Strengthening Cooperation to Boost Egyptian Food Exports

Cairo: As part of the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) commitment to enhancing cooperation and integration with state agencies concerned with supporting Egyptian exports and improving the competitiveness of national products in global markets, NFSA Chairman Tarek El-Houby met on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, with Minister Plenipotentiary for Commercial Affairs, First Undersecretary of the Ministry, and Head of the Egyptian Commercial Service (ECA) Abdelaziz El-Sherif, at the ECA headquarters.

According to State Information Service Egypt, during the meeting, both sides discussed ways to strengthen joint cooperation in supporting Egyptian food exports and exchanging information on the requirements of foreign markets and international food safety standards. The discussions aimed to facilitate the entry of Egyptian products into target markets and support the implementation of the state's strategy to increase non-oil exports.

Tarek El-Houby emphasized that the NFSA is working to develop Egypt's food safety system in line with the latest international standards, focusing on streamlining export procedures and applying modern digital systems to ensure efficiency and speed of service delivery. He also highlighted the importance of ongoing coordination with the ECA, describing it as a key partner in supporting the development of Egyptian food exports and enhancing their global presence.

For his part, Dr. Abdelaziz El-Sherif welcomed the cooperation with the NFSA, affirming the ECA's readiness to provide full support through its overseas commercial offices and to keep the Authority informed about the latest international market requirements in the field of food safety. This, he noted, would help strengthen confidence in Egyptian products and open new horizons for national exports.

Both parties agreed to continue coordination and hold regular meetings to follow up on areas of cooperation and exchange expertise, in support of the state's efforts to increase high-quality Egyptian exports and achieve sustainable food security.
